A Nexus Academy High School Day
The only “typical” thing about a day at Nexus Academy is that it’s customized to each student’s individual personalized learning needs, whether on-campus or studying online..
Choosing a Blended Learning Class Time
Our students choose a morning (8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.) or afternoon (12:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m.) session at the Nexus Academy campus four days a week: Monday–Thursday for the afternoon session, and Tuesday–Friday for the morning session, with extra time on campus for those who need it. Nexus Academy students also spend approximately fourteen hours a week away from campus completing interactive online lessons with support and instruction from a virtual teacher.
Whether they choose morning or afternoon sessions on campus, our students begin their day with an advisory period dedicated to collaborative activities and college skill-building work with their Success Coaches. Then they attend small-group classes with their English and math teachers, who focus on each student’s needs in mastering the curriculum.
Online Access with LiveLesson® Virtual Classes
When they're not engaged with their face-to-face teachers, blended learning students complete their online course work and LiveLesson virtual classes in comfortable, open-seating team zones. They work under the guidance of their Success Coaches, who also meet with them one-on-one to talk about their goals and progress and any challenges in their personalized learning plans.
There’s plenty of time to form groups for schoolwork and club activities, and to enjoy at least one fitness session each week with the on-site personal trainer.
